Tri-Fires district comprises the communities in east-central Summit County, including the eastern half of the city of Akron, Mogadore & Tallmadge.
Fired up about Scouting
In 1988 when the Great Trail Council divided the then Towpath District into "Towpath East" and "Towpath West" both districts sought their own identity. So in 1989 the then Towpath West chrisined itself "Old Portage" a name running deep in the Great Trail Council. Towpath East after much deliberation and the help of Troop 77 became Tri-Fires. This name had it's history out of our motto Get Fired-up About Scouting and the three anchor communities of Akron, Mogadore and Tallmadge that make up the district.
