In 1988, the Towpath District was divided into
two districts, Towpath East and Towpath West.
In 1989, Towpath West changed its name to the Old Portage District.
Towpath East, after much thought and deliberation, (and with the help
of Troop 77), changed its name to the Tri-Fires District.
This name was derived from the fact that the district chose the motto,
"get fired-up about scouting"
and that they consisted of units from Akron, Mogadore and Tallmadge.
These three areas formed a triangle, thus the "Tri-Fires"
District. This theme is
reflected in our patch.
