Sherri Buck becomes the first female Council Commissioner in the Great Trail Council. She commits to improving unit service for the almost 5000 youth in 250 different Scout units across greater Akron and the Mahoning Valley and to developing more female leaders for the scouting movement, especially to serve the program's growing number of girls and young women. She also commits to enhancing safety in all aspects of Scouting.

Sherri Buck began her journey in scouting in 2007 as a Cub Scout den leader. She became an Assistant Scoutmaster when her 2 sons crossed over into Boy Scouts.

Sherri has also served at district level as the District Chair from 2015-2022. During her time as District Chair she was very involved in the Friends of Scouting campaign, membership and program side of the district.

Sherri has found a love for hiking, backpacking and everything outdoors in scouting. She has gone on many campouts with the troop in several states including a 115 mile backpacking trek at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and had a Big Munson island experience at Sea Base in Florida.

She has gone back to Philmont for training. She attended the Finding Your Seat at the Scouting Table conference and plans to go back for Commissioners Training to prepare for her new role as Council Commissioner.

Sherri has earned the District Award of Merit, the Silver Beaver award along with many other training awards including Wood Badge. She has received many Eagle Scout mentor pins from scouts who honored her with that recognition and many of them she had followed and supported from first grade through high school.

Her most memorable experiences were when her 2 sons achieved Eagle rank. One in 2019 and the other in 2020.
