Council commissioner meetings: held on the last Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm.
Dave Harman has been involved in Scouting for 38 years (27 of those as an adult). He has also served as a Pack Treasurer, Pack Re-chartering Coordinator, Assistant Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster for High Adventure, Unit Commissioner, Assistant District Commissioner, District Commissioner, and World Scout Jamboree Scoutmaster USA315.

Dave has hiked Philmont in 1971 and 2001, backpacked the Central Alaska Mountain Range and segments of the Appalachian Trail, sea kayaked Valdez, AK, and trekked at Tinnerman Canoe Base and the Adirondack High Adventure Camp.
He has earned the Arrow of Light, Life rank, Wood Badge, and Powder Horn; and is a member of the Order of the Arrow. Dave has been honored with the District Award of Merit, and Silver Beaver Awards. He has been a trainer for the College of Commissioner Science, University of Scouting (Dutch Oven, Winter Camping, and Gourmet Cooking), Dean of Boy Scout College, Powder Horn Guide, Powder Horn Assistant Course Director Instruction (2x), Wood Badge Ticket Counselor, and Wood Badge Staffer (4x). Dave was a participant in the Buckeye Council Wood Badge Course C-41-00 and is an Antelope. Dave has provided sales training through Sandler Training to the Boy Scouts of America at the former Greater Cleveland Council.
Dave has been married to Carol for 39 years, they live in Hudson, Ohio, and they have two children - David (Eagle Scout, wife Beth, father of William and Sarah) and Britta (husband Vince Latz and mother of Graham). Dave is the Director of Sales & Marketing for Ferriot, Inc of Akron. Dave graduated from the College of Wooster with a BA in Biology, studied in Vienna, Austria and earned an MBA from Miami University.

After over 30 years of service that include stints in unit, district and national leadership roles, Ed feels a divine calling to continue gladly. Thanks to his father and other adults who gave him the opportunity to become an Eagle Scout in 1972. His 3 sons and 2 daughters all spent time in Scouting. Ed is employed as an IT project manager and lives with his wife, Stephanie, in Medina.

Beth Harnishfeger has been in Scouting for 20 years. She served as Program Director for Greater Western Reserve Council Cub Scout Resident Camp for 10 years and on training staff for the University of Scouting and National Camp School. Beth lives in Boardman, OH with her husband Byron (Scoutmaster of Troop 9060) and is parent to 6 children, grandmother to 9 and great-grandma to 2. She is a retired secretary after 40 years in a real estate law office.

Crooked River District

Vince Marchetti was a Scout in New York and served as Den, Pack, and Troop leader as three sons and a daughter enjoyed Scouting. He later served as a Unit Commissioner and District Commissioner. The kids have flown off to other cities and countries and he continues to live in Stow with his wife Pennie. For his daily bread he develops software for civil engineering and manufacturing.

Joe is a former Great Trail Council Commissioner and has championed an annual comprehensive College of Commissioner Science for many years. In 2018 he was presented the National Eagle Scout Association's Outstanding Eagle award. Joe serves on the Council Executive Board.

Barry Smith

In memory
Barry C. Smith, 73, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away on March 16, 2022. He was born in San Francisco in 1949. In his
twenties, Barry spent a lot of time playing the bass guitar in the band Orphan Egg and the band went on to win The
Battle of The Bands in 1968-69. In 2006, he began volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America and eventually became
a Scoutmaster. There he was nicknamed, "Blue Bear," which he loved. He was also devoted to his church, St. Paul
Episcopal Church in Akron. Barry loved the outdoors and could often be found hiking and camping. He was a caring
father and friend and will be dearly missed.
Barry Smith, 25 years a Scouter. Started like most as a Den Leader. Then a flurry of opportunities including Cubmaster, Roundtable Commissioner, Council Cub Training Chair, Commissioner Trainer (over 100 trained), Scoutmaster, OA Asst. Section Advisor, Asst. Council Commissioner. Silver Beaver and a Bear. Staffed four Woodbadge courses in three councils. Semi-retired house painter born and raised in California.
Roundtables are held in each district on a monthly basis (except in the Summer). Plan to be at your District's Roundtable for the August Kickoff.

Fritz Coombs, a 1964 Eagle, has served as Arrowhead District Chair, V.P. Program, and Council Commissioner ( in Greater Western Reserve Council) and presently serves as an Asst. Council Commissioner and Member of the Executive Board of Great Trail Council. He retired from the practice of law after 41 years and lives in Trumbull County with his wife, Janice. In his spare time, he enjoys performing magic and sleight of hand.

Steve Myers, a 1968 Eagle, guided 76 Eagles as Scoutmaster of Troop One in West Akron over 25 years. He has served in the Venturing program and helps administer the College of Commissioner Science as a Dean. He is a Ph.D. economist who recently retired from a 41-year career at The University of Akron and lives in West Akron with his wife Kimberly, greyhound Holly and Mama the cat. He has 41 years as a registered youth and Scouter.
